Smoke and Mirrors
In her project entitled “Smoke and Mirrors”, Solenne Morigeaud has been investigating how magical thinking can inform interactive and innovative design for the home. She created a collection of mirrors, glass and wallcoverings that blur and interact with our perception. Mirrors are etched, overlaid and laser cut, which create illusions of depth and fractured reflections.
The inspiration comes from ink stains, clouds, shadows and smoke trails - coincidental patterns that create an unforeseen imagery.
The main piece of her project is an antique door glazed with etched mirrors that appear to be transparent.
Through her work, Solenne Morigeaud imagines the future of textiles as a way to encourage people to get into their imagination, too often forgotten.
